Here’s some examples of both being options.

2. There are many private ambulance companies and hospitals that are along side public institutions. If I recall, medicare is a public option is it not? Yet the private institutions pretty much obliterates medicare in nearly every aspect except being cheap for all. Which you still have the option of either.

3. There are many private security businesses along side the Police Departments. And they seem to be doing well even though there is public law enforcement.

If history repeats itself, again, then I don’t see the private companies failing if there is a public option.

I know people are worried about the government forcing people to go into it but that isn’t the case. It’s the privately owned companies that will force their employees to go into government run option so that the profit margin will increase since the public option will be cheaper. That sounds like capitalism to me. What is the complaint? You have to give money to save people’s lives? That would be odd since you already give money to end people lives in over seas battles, I reckon war hawks would dub that as policing the world.
