So if we give the means for people to pay into a system that is cheaper than the private system, than what is wrong with that??
I mean, we pay money for police, fire department, military protection, etc, why can’t we pay into a system that will be there for us when we get sick?
The rest of the modern world ensures universal health care for all it’s citizens, why can’t we???
It would be cheaper because private insurers make a 20-30% profit from taking your money and redistributing it to hospitals.
The gov’t plan only takes 3% to run administrative costs and that’s it. Effectively, that makes sure 17%-27% goes towards health care for the people who pay into it or to make the plans cheaper.
Those who make more money, should be able to pay more into the system.

Why do Republicans hate the idea of letting average Americans pool their money together in a public plan?
After all, they don’t seem to hate the idea when it comes to Medicare for people 65 and up which is 100% government run. Yet when it comes to allowing average Americans pool their money into a public plan, the Republicans shout “socialism” and “fascism”.
Who do you think you are telling Americans what to do? If they want to save their money through a public plan, why stop them? Why should they be forced to pay their money to expensive insurance companies who take a 20-30% profit? I would rather see that 20-30% go towards actual health care with a public option.
