It sure seems to me like the Democrats are willing to sell us down the river just so they can say they overhauled health care. The plot will dramatically effect households with solid middle-class incomes. A family of four making $66,000 a year would still have to spend about 10 percent of its income on premiums — less than a mortgage but more than a car payment. And that’s without counting co payments and deductibles. Several million otherwise eligible Americans could still be priced out. Yet they will still be required to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty.
All the excellent parts of the plot don’t kick in until 2013 but the cost will kick in straight away. Sounds to me like the only people making out on this new deal are the Insurance Companies.
